Die Insel ist relativ d\u00fcnn besiedelt und in weiten Teilen ein Naturschutzgebiet. Es gibt noch viele intakte Korallenriffe und die Insel ist sehr popul\u00e4r bei Tauchern und zum Schnorcheln. Daher gibt es auch f\u00fcr die ganze Insel ein Ankerverbot. Als Ausgleich gibt es daf\u00fcr viele Moorings, die von Yachten genutzt werden k\u00f6nnen. Teilweise kann man diese Moorings mieten (\u00fcber die Harbor Village Marina) und manche darf man max. 2 Stunden nutzen \u2013 das allerdings kostenlos. Der S\u00fcden wird von einem Werk zur Salzgewinnung dominiert. Es gibt\ngro\u00dfe Seen mit denen aus Meerwasser Salz gewonnen wird. In dieser Gegend gibt\nes auch viele Flamingos und einige freilebende Esel, auch sch\u00f6ne Str\u00e4nde zum\nKite-Surfen und Windsurfen sind hier zu finden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Auf der Nordseite der Insel ist ein Naturpark (Washington-Slagbaai-Nationalpark), auch hier gibt es viele Flamingos und zus\u00e4tzlich viele (zum Teil besonders gesch\u00fctzte) Papageienarten z.B. auch Hier gibt es auch ein gut gesch\u00fctztes Mooringfeld direkt vor der\nPromenade. Hier haben wir auch mit unserer Maya festgemacht. Entgegen mancher Beschreibung\nim Internet, haben wir das Mooringfeld in sehr gutem Zustand vorgefunden und\ndie Verankerung machte einen sehr soliden Eindruck. In Sichtweite des\nMooringfeldes ist die Insel \u201eKlein Bonaire\u201c. Diese Insel ist unbewohnt und ein\nbeliebtes Ziel f\u00fcr Tagesausfl\u00fcge (und nat\u00fcrlich auch zum Tauchen\/Schnorcheln). &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Die Insel Bonaire hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Es gibt nicht so viele Leute auf der Insel und alles wirkt sehr entspannt. Wir haben uns auch sehr sicher gef\u00fchlt. Es gibt Tourismus, allerdings haben wir keine gro\u00dfen Hotelburgen gesehen, sondern eher kleinere oder mittelgro\u00dfe Anlagen und Pensionen.
