Zuerst sind wir etwas l\u00e4nger geblieben, weil wir auf Ersatzteile (neue Verbraucherbatterien) gewartet haben. W\u00e4hrend der &#8222;Wartezeit&#8220; haben wir allerdings die Insel und die Bewohner von Hao etwas besser kennengelert und beschlossen etwas l\u00e4nger zu bleiben. Auch war es nat\u00fcrlich schon die &#8222;Heiva&#8220; Feierlichkeiten (die auf vielen anderen Inseln abgesagt wurden, aber hier stattfanden) Es erstreckt sich \u00fcber ca. 30sm (etwa 50km). Wir haben auch einige der unz\u00e4hligen kleinen Motus, das sind die Inseln am Atoll, besucht. Dabei wurden wir auch von einigen Locals mit verschieden Traditionen vertraut gemacht. Jetzt gibt es die Milit\u00e4rbasis nicht mehr und wurde weitgehend zur\u00fcckgebaut. Nur ein paar Dinge erinnern noch daran. Dazu geh\u00f6ren, neben dem &#8222;Darse&#8220;&#8211;einer Dockanlage in der wir mit unserem Boot einen Gro\u00dfteil der Zeit gelegen haben, vor allem der Flughafen (HOI). Der Flughafen wurde angelegt, damit auch gro\u00dfe Transportmaschinen das Material f\u00fcr die Tests bringen konnten. Er ist noch jetzt f\u00fcr zivile Zwecke in Betrieb. F\u00fcr eine kleine S\u00fcdsee-Insel, mit nicht einmal 2000 Einwohnern, ist er ungew\u00f6hnlich gro\u00df. Die Landebahn ist 3343m \u00d7 45m und damit \u00e4hnlich gro\u00df wie z.B. die Landebahn des Flughafens in San Francisco (SFO). Zur Zeit der Spaceshuttles wurde er sogar als Ersatzlandebahn f\u00fcr die Raumf\u00e4hren gelistet (wurde allerdings niemals daf\u00fcr benutzt). In der 80ger Jahren hat sogar der \u00dcberschallflieger Concorde hier einen Stopp gemacht. Obwohl es <a href=\"https:\/\/www.deutschlandfunk.de\/frankreichs-nuklearstrategie-strahlende-altlasten-in.724.de.html?dram:article_id=358932\">Berichte<\/a> gibt, dass auch Hao mit Plutonium belastet ist konnten wir mit unserem Geiger-Z\u00e4hler keine erh\u00f6hte Strahlung messen. Es ist vielleicht keine Insel mit vielen Attraktionen und ist auch wenig touristisch. Aber vielleicht macht gerade das den Charme der Insel aus.
